What Is She Doing

What does it look like to you? Now - you have to have a little sense of humor! Yep, you're right. I am trying out my cemetery plot! You see, there have been so many deaths around me lately. So many friends! And, since I am no young chick, I decided I should start taking care of business.

Ten years ago, I bought a five foot by five foot cremation cemetery plot in our little town cemetery up on the hill. Yes, cremation. That will be the only time in my life that I will ever be SMOKIN' HOT! Are you still with me?

The cemetery has grave sites dating back to the early years of the Gold Rush Era with the earliest known burial in June of 1855.

I need to hire a workman to put in required curbing, probably three feet high and prepare the site for use. My unconditional lovers (my pets) will be with me. I already have the cremains of my little Yorkie dog, Pixie and my little Tabby cat, Puff. And, any future pets (probably Lily) that I may have will be with us. In addition, at  his request, My Special Man who shared five years of his life with me in "Sunset Love" (2010-2014) will also join us for which I feel very comforted and honored.

The other consideration is the head stone. I will have to think about that for awhile. They can be rather pricey.

What's new with you?

Mary

  1. This was a hilarious post for me! I can SO relate to you! I've done the same thing... though only bought a little 2 ft x 2 ft plot for my ashes. I wanted to be sure I'd have a "home" to go to in the "afterwards". I chose a spot right next to my son.. who passed 6 years ago at age 24. It comforts me to know that one day I will be there right next to him... and that if I never get to buy a house again, at least I'll own my own little piece of property, even if only 2 feet x 2 feet! My next "worry" (I always have to have something to worry about) is what to have put on my grave marker! ... and it has to be just right, right? I had to laugh when I read this!

  2. Marilyn, Thanks for reading my blog. Yes, the grave marker is really tricky for me too, trying to combine me, my animals and "lover". Any ideas? So sorry about the loss of your son. It is always difficult and the sorrow never really goes away. It is always in the back of our minds. Love your humor! Mary

In the garden I tend to drop my thoughts here and there. To the flowers I whisper the secrets I keep and the hopes I breathe. I know they are there to eavesdrop for the angels. ~Dodinsky
