SNOW - It Really Snowed

Snow started to fall gently on Monday afternoon which was very pleasing for me .  Since we infrequently have snow at this 2000 ft elevation in the California, Sierra Nevada Foothills it is always "an event" .
This next photo was taken around 5 PM when the stepping stones were easy to see and the snow was slow .

Since it looked like we really were going to have lots of "white stuff" I felt in the mood to put the soup pot on .  This soup is called Tomato and White Been Soup with Parmesan Cheese .  Really, it is a pretty standard winter soup with lots of nutritious veggies,  tomato base and good seasoning . The ingredients in this soup ended up being onion, carrots, white beans, diced tomatoes, beef broth, pasta, collard greens and grated Parmesan cheese .

Looks and tasted very good .

By this early morning the snow was slowing and this is what the garden looked like .
The photos are taken from inside the house through the windows and it is difficult to take photos because of the way my house sits on the property .

It is beginning to look like it is going to snow a lot more today .
The snow is coming down very heavy and has been very steady throughout the morning .  It looks like I will be "snowed in" even though the weather forecast is telling us that the snow will be over by the end of the day . There have been very few cars/trucks on the roads that have not been plowed .  The view out my windows is so pretty with the large snow flakes .

I am a native Californian and THIS certainly is a novelty for me .  Since I moved here 25 years ago , I think this is the most snow I have experienced living here !

Happy Day to all of you .

Mary

  1. The snow looks beautiful. As does your soup!! We had some very heavy rain down my way for the last 3 days. Much needed, but my gardens and yard are very wet. Lovely sun today, but it is very chilly for San Diego-52F. Hug Miss Ivy for me!

IN MY GARDEN there is a large place for sentiment. My garden of flowers is also my garden of thoughts and dreams. The Thoughts grow as freely as the flowers and the dreams are as beautiful. - Abram Urban

In the garden I tend to drop my thoughts here and there. To the flowers I whisper the secrets I keep and the hopes I breathe. I know they are there to eavesdrop for the angels. ~Dodinsky
